God Bura Secondary School is located in Kiabuya zone, Gwassi division, Suba Sub-county, Homa-Bay county in the former Nyanza Province. The current Principal is Mr. Joseph Masiwo, telephone number 0721929815. It is a public day school with a boarding unit with approved enrolment as double stream. God-Bura Secondary School is SDA sponsored and managed by a Board of Management. The school is located on a parcel of land No 678, measuring about 6 acres.

The school was started as harambee school but collapsed due to the start of Tonga Secondary School in July 1969, then Minister for economic planning and development, the late Hon Thomas Joseph Mboya visited the school and advised that Gwassi could not manage promoting two Harambee schools at the same time, it was once again revived in 1977 but collapsed again in 1994.

Community members, the late Eliphas Opere Okworo, the late Johana Ndiege, the late Lazarus Odhach and the late Helekia Oyoo generously donated the site of the land where the school was situated in 1995. The school came up again under the leadership of Mwalimu Elijah Ogada Obondo (1994)

 The school which started as Harambee single-streamed have since grown to a tripple streamed school with a population of 515 students. Mr. Onyango Moth was the pioneer head teacher of the school (1977) and since then eleven head teachers have led the school among them being Mr. Shemekia Oruko Ogallo (1979), Dan Onyango(1980) , John  Odongo (2009-2014) and the current Principal Mr. Joseph Masiwo (2014 – Date)
